Lead Operating Center Working Group

Each VAC4EU study involves one organisation that coordinates and manages the study, known as the Lead Operating Center (LOC). The LOC takes on the responsibility for setting and managing study budget and timelines, serving as primary contact for all study partners, ensuring and documenting that standards of quality requirements are applied, and all coordination activities between different study roles. Project Managers and other specialists from LOCs are experienced, agile, and knowledgeable of requirements from all involved parties and are the spinning wheel behind every project.

Each VAC4EU study involves one organisation who coordinates the study, taking on the role of primary contact for the study requester. The LOC takes responsibility for setting and managing the timelines for delivering study results as agreed-upon, along with applied standards of quality. Project Managers and other specialists from these organisations are agile, knowledgeable, communicative, and aware of requirements from all involved parties, including VAC4EU, all participating partner organisations, the study requester, and relevant regulatory frameworks.

The LOC WG has contributed extensively to the VAC4EU quality framework, developing standardised processes, study tools, and template documents. In 2023, representatives from the LOC WG presented at the International Conference for Pharmacoepidemiology on the challenges and lessons learned in managing COVID vaccine studies within VAC4EU.
